Nationwide warns on home insurance

Building society Nationwide has stated that it is a good idea for consumers to shop around for home insurance cover if they want to avoid hidden charges.

The company has stated that on some occasions, some providers may charge people for factors such as paying off their premiums by direct debit.

It also warned consumers about the importance of having a quality level of cover, stating that recent storms across the UK proved how vital insurance can be for homeowners.

Robin Bailey, Nationwide's insurance director, said: "The recent spate of bad weather is a grim reminder of the devastation that extreme weather can cause and highlights the importance of having adequate home insurance cover.

He added that the company "will do everything it can to assist homeowners affected by floods or storm damage".

Sheilas' Wheels recently urged motorists to also shop around for the best insurance cover available to them.

The company's spokesperson Niki Bolton said that it is key for drivers of either gender to compare deals in order to get a good price for their premiums.ADNFCR-1054-ID-18531930-ADNFCR
